Canterbury School offering scholarships

Canterbury School is offering need-based merit scholarships to area fifth and eighth grade students entering Canterbury's sixth or ninth grades for the 2008/2009 school year. Each scholarship is for 50 percent of tuition through the twelfth grade year of high school.

To qualify, students must pre-register to take a test given at Canterbury School on either Saturday, December 1, or Saturday, December 8, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Students who perform well on the exam will be invited to interview for the scholarships.

The four-year scholarship is valued at more than $26,000 and the six-year scholarship at more than $45,000.

"The Need-Based Merit Scholarship Program was created for students new to Canterbury and entering either sixth or ninth grade in the fall," said Julie Peters, director of admission at Canterbury School. "We look for students who demonstrate they will benefit from a Canterbury education and who will add to the distinction of Canterbury School."

For information about winning a six-year or a four-year scholarship to Canterbury, the area's leading college preparatory school, contact the Admission Office at 415-8945.
