Airport

Joseph H. Burgess has been appointed to the Lee County Port Authority Airports Special Management Committee by Lee County Port Commissioner Frank Mann. The committee serves as an advisory board to the Lee County Board of Port Commissioners, reviewing policy, administrative and management matters for Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field General Aviation Airport.

Burgess was born and spent his childhood in Fort Myers. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and went on to work for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, Calif., and Hughes Aircraft Company. In 1970, he established Burgess Engineer, Inc., an engineering consulting firm based out of Fort Myers, and is still active in the company today.
