Heart surgery drug carries serious risks
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recommended that additional clinical trials be conducted on a drug used locally in heart surgeries after finding patients who took it had a higher risks of serious side effects including kidney problems, heart attacks and strokes. Full Story
Kids Club partners with Sheriff to transcribe books for the blind
Female inmates learning Braille
The Winning Kids Club, Braille Institute of Florida, and the Lee County Sheriff's Office have formed a partnership to reach out to the community and provide books for blind and low-vision children. Female inmates are learning the basics of the Braille code and have already transcribed one child's book into Braille. Full Story
U.S., Mexico sign postal agreement
The U.S. Postal Service and the Servicio Postal Mexicano have signed an agreement to improve mail services between the United States and Mexico. As part of the agreement, USPS will assist SEPOMEX in developing its own transformation plan - drawing on the Postal Service's successful experience with strategic transformation since 2002.
