A Lee County gynecologic oncologist will be honored for his accomplishments in the fight against cancer during the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer annual meeting on Oct. 8 in New Orleans. Dr. Phillip Y. Roland, is a recipient of the 2006 Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award, which recognizes outstanding effort made by a physician in championing the cause of their hospital's cancer program. Roland is a partner in Florida Gynecologic Oncology and has been associated with Lee Cancer Care and Lee Memorial Hospital's Cancer Committee since 2000. Prior to moving to Lee County, he was an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Medical School, and now serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
