Art exhibit on Sanibel
Fifty-three paintings by members of Sanibel-Captiva Art League are on view at the Sanibel Public Library through the end of September during regular library hours. The paintings extend throughout the computer area. The newly expanded state-of-art library welcomes tourists to use the facilities and services.
Retiring library director, Patricia Allen, encourages residents to share their hobbies, collections, inherited treasures and career memorabilia with the community in the locked glass cases.
"Along with the Art League's monthly exhibits and our permanent shell displays we also have an appropriate seasonal motif in the glass cases," Allen said. "We strive to share items of local interest because so many of our residents and volunteers have such varied and intriguing experiences and backgrounds. Sharing in this way is an extension of our philosophy that the library truly does belong to the community. Along with reference materials, CDs and DVDs, books, magazines, computers, etc. we find that these special displays along with the programs in the meeting rooms offer unique enrichment to our community." ¦
