Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat plays at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre through Aug. 18. The age-old Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to life on stage as a colorful musical for all ages. Andrew Lloyd Webber teams up with collaborator Tim Rice to tell this compelling story from the Old Testament. The story, told through a kaleidoscope of song and dance, is set in the desert of the Middle East many centuries ago. Ticket prices range from $25 to $50. n Feelin' Groovy

The Schoolhouse Theater on Sanibel presents the music revue Feelin' Groovy. It's the first of the Theater's summer shows. Feelin' Groovy features popular songs from each year of the 1960s. The cast features the powerhouse vocals of Victor Legarreta, Bobby Logue, Samantha Rotella, Tammy Truitt & Yurief Rodriguez. Performances are now Wednesday and Thursdays at 7 p.m. through Aug. 1. Get Down Tonight is playing at the Schoolhouse Theater on Sanibel. Performances are Tuesdays and Saturdays. The cast has familiar faces Victor Legarreta, Bobby Logue, and Samantha Rotella. You've seen her on the island in the past, but it'll be Tammy Truitt's first time at the new location of The Schoolhouse Theater. Yurief Rodriguez will also be joining the cast. During the summer, the Box Office is only open the day of performances - from 2 to 7 p.m. All shows begin at 7 p.m. with ticket prices of $20 for adults and $10 for children. n Charlotte's Web

Broadway Palm Children's Theatre presents Charlotte's Web through Aug. 4. Charlotte's Web is the loveable story about Wilbur, a fat little pig who is saved from the usual fate of fat little pigs, by his friends, Fern, a sensitive little girl and Charlotte, a crafty spider. This musical version is full of songs and colorful characters. Special evening performances will be on Sunday, July 22; Thursday, July 26; Sunday, July 29 and Thursday, August 2. For the added evening performances dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the show kicks off at 7 p.m. Daytime performances begin with a buffet at noon and show time at 1 p.m. The chef's special buffet includes children's favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, chicken and more. Charlotte's Web plays selected matinees June 29 through August 4 at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre. The July and August dates are: July 6, 8, 12, 13, 15, 18, 20, 21, 26, 27, 29 and August 1, 3 and 4. Ticket prices for lunch and the show are $15 for all ages. n Beauty & the Beast

Disney's Beauty & the Beast plays at the Sugden Community Theatre in Naples through July 28. The new classic retells the legend loved by adults and children. It's filled with great characters like the castle's magical staff, including Mrs. Potts the teapot and Lumiere the lovestruck candelabra, and with tons of musical theatre pizazz. For this summer show, The Naples Players and Vergina Restaurant have teamed up to offer a combination "dinner and a show" package for only $45. For information call the Sugden at (239) 263-7990.

Saturday, July 7

n Musical - A Cracker at the Ritz, an orignial play about the foibles and absurdities of life in Southwest Florida is performed by local players Rick Compton and Betsy Bennett at the English Pub, Linwood Avenue, Naples. The all-original satire features songs such as "Red Tide In The Sunset," "Barron Collier High," and "A Ton-and-a-half Of Cadillac Steel." Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. n Art - The Stone Age Emporium is sponsoring a Bead Show at the Cape Cortal Arts Studio from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. More than 200 gemstones and glass beads as well as jewelry findings, watch faces, tools and more are available. Bead stringing instructions are available from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for a nominal fee. The Arts Studio is located at 4533 Coronado Pkwy, Cape Coral. For information call 574-0802.

n Art - The Art League of Bonita Springs is hosting a "Celebrate Summer!" art exhibit through July 27. This all artist/all media exhibition showcases artwork by artists from Southwest Florida. The collection is sure to be a hit with area art lovers. Most works are for sale. A reception is set for Friday, July 6 from 6-8 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays, Noon-5 p.m. All Art League exhibitions are free to the public. n Art - Artist Erma Jean Woodis features Florida Beaches and Wildlife in her new show at the Cape Coral Arts Studio. The show opens Friday, July 6. The Arts Studio is located at 4533 Coronado Pkwy, Cape Coral. For information call 574-0802. n Art - Visitors and residents are welcome to see paintings by members of the Sanibel-Captiva Art League at the Sanibel Public Library and in BIG ARTS Phillips Gallery. In addition to tropical scenes and local wildlife there is a large variety of still life and other subjects in oil, acrylic, pastel, collage and watercolor. The different interpretations of large and small colorful artworks range from representational to expressionistic and abstract. Many of the artists have won awards in juried exhibitions. Both buildings are on Dunlop Road near City Hall. Call the library, 472-2483, or BIG ARTS, 395-0900, for hours.

Bring your family and friends to share an evening of music, fellowship, and fun at the 10th Annual "Mid-Summer's Night Hymn Sing," sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships. The event, planned for Tuesday, July 24, at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Myers, will be a 90-minute performance beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission is two cans of food to benefit The Soup Kitchen of Community Cooperative Ministries, and a voluntary monetary donation (which is greatly needed at this time) to benefit Faith in Action of Southwest Florida.

n Block party - Drive on into the River District in downtown Fort Myers for the Cruise-In Block Party Car Show from 5 p.m. until 8 at First and Hendry streets on Saturday, July 14 . Choose from a dozen restaurants to dine, shop or view more than 200 show cars. Music is from Tom's Traveling Tunes. Admission is free. n Theater - The Children's Summer Program at The Schoolhouse Theater will present a new play called "The Imagination Station," written by Schoolhouse favorite, Reid Kirchhoff. The performance will be on Aug. 11 at noon at The Schoolhouse Theater; tickets are free and on a first come, first serve basis.
