Addiction agency getting new home
Fort Myers is one step closer to opening a new 40-bed detoxification center after Southwest Florida Addiction Services announced it had awarded the construction contract to Owen Ames Kimball Co. Property values dip for some, soar for others
Lee County overall growth pegged at 6-percent
Property values slowed from the breakneck pace of the past few years when double-digit increases were the norm. In fact, some areas of Lee County actually lost value. Passenger totals at Southwest Florida International Airport increased again making this the ninth straight month of recordbreaking traffic. During the month of April, nearly 925,000 passengers traveled through the airport, making it the busiest April in the airport's 24-year-history. Full Story
May home permits up in Lee
Builders in unincorporated Lee County, Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach pulled 303 permits for single-family houses, about 15 percent more than April's 264. May's single family residential construction is valued at $89 million, up 25 percent over April. Full Story

Firm helps build Habitat home
Community Engineering Services employees teamed with Habitat for Humanity of Lee County May 19 to build a new, affordable home in Lehigh Acres. The CES employees were joined by members of the Fort Myers State Attorney's office for the charity construction project.
