Bonita Springs gallery celebrates past and present

Fine Arts & Fine Crafts: Then & Now, an exhibition featuring artwork from the past and present, opened at the Center for the Arts in Bonita Springs on Friday, June 1. The regional exhibition includes art quilts, glass pieces, sculpture, and both drawings and paintings.
Merit awards were given to five artists in the show:
+ Jan Mangrum for "Wacky Flamingo" a contemporary quilt
+ Roger Tachuk for "Striped Discus # 1" a fused glass piece
+ Ellen Pritts for "It was a Dark & Stormy Night" a fused glass picture
+ Sandra Vanzant for "Sweet Potatoes" an acrylic painting
+ Tania Begg for "Whimsey Fish" a wire and bead sculpture
The collection will remain on display through June 28.
The Center's Tranovich Gallery is hosting a photography collection, The Princeton Art of Science through July 28. Over 50 photographs by Princeton University science students line the gallery giving viewers an amazing view of science as art. From spectacular outer space photos to pictures taken through a microscope, this is a thought provoking look at the link between the sciences and art.
COURTESY PHOTO Roger Tachuk recieved a merit award for "Striped Discus # 1" a fused glass piece. Both exhibitions are open to the public and no admission is charged. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Noon-5 p.m.
