Lee libraries offer free summer programs
The Lee County Library System is offering a wide variety of programs for all ages in June. The following regularly scheduled programs are free of charge to the public:

HUD-Approved, First-Time Homebuyer Workshop
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9
Learn about down payment and closing-cost assistance programs, the mortgage loan process and other tools for gaining home ownership. Registration is required. To reserve a seat, call the Consumer Credit Counseling Service at (800) 741-7040 and choose option 4. A lunch break is from noon to 1 p.m.; meals not provided.
Scrapbooking 101
10 a.m. Saturday, June 16
Learn new techniques that will make your scrapbooking more special than ever. Materials will be supplied. Be sure to bring four to six pictures for your pages.

Every author starts somewhere, but the end of the book is where this group discussion begins. Join discussions of J.M. Ledgard's "Giraffe: A Novel" in May and Jim Lynch's "The Highest Tide: A Novel" in June.

Family Baby/Parent Rhyme Time
10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27
Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is requested.

Are Your Roots Showing? Start Climbing Your Family Tree: "Searching Your Family's Roots Online"

Have you ever wondered about your roots? Have you ever wanted to explore your family's history? Have you ever wanted to create your own family tree? Youth in grades 5th through 9th can learn all of that and more as the Lee County Genealogical Society continues this three-part series with a new topic in June. The series will end on July 28 with "Are Your Roots Showing?: Immigrant Ancestors." Registration is requested.
