Upcoming classes or workshops:

Contemporary Silver and Metalpoint Drawing

Instructor: Joseph Weinzettle

When: Saturday May 12, noon - 3 p.m.

Cost: $45 for members/55 for nonmembers

This workshop will focus on contemporary metalpoint art and materials. A range of materials including gold, copper, brass, aluminum, and pure silver will be experimented with. Drawing exercises will be indoors and out (weather permitting). One contemporary claycoat ground will be provided but students should bring additional boards or paper. Ask for a materials list.

Contemporary African Art in Florida Instructor: Joseph Weinzettle

When: Tuesday, May 22, 6-8 p.m.

Cost: $10 for members/15 for non-members

This slide lecture will introduce six contemporary artists working with African themes and styles in the state of Florida . Some African cloth samples will also be presented and discussed. Presenter Joseph Weinzettle, MFA, has visited Sengal , Benin , Togo , and Ghana .

Birthday Party

Have your next birthday party at the Alliance for the Arts.

Do you have a budding ballerina or a pint size Picasso? Dance, theatre, or visual arts: The Alliance will customize a party to match your child's most creative wish. Fees include space for the party, a qualified instructor/host, and clean-up. All you provide is the cake and the kids.

$150/175 for 1.5 hours and up to 10 children ($5 each additional child).

Naples Art Association

Members of the Naples Art Association will hold its annual membership meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place in the Frederick O. Watson Gallery at The von Liebig Art Center, 585 Park Street, Naples. Refreshments will be served. RSVPs are not required. The agenda will include the election of new board members, and Board and Directors reports to the Membership.
