magical Eartha
Eartha Kitt is living proof you don't have to be in your twenties to be sexy. At 80 years old, Eartha Kitt is emphatically and undeniably sexy. And yes, still fiercely independent. Kitt performs at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts Monday, April 30 in what's being called the sleeper hit show of the season. Full Story

PET TALES
Childhood pet dog ate like goat
I should be a regular on every oddball talk show. As impossible as this might sound I spent my entire childhood living with a dog that was a bit off to say the least. Ok, he was nuts. It's not every lucky girl who can hold her head up high and tell folks she grew up with a dog who ate inedible things such as blankets and laundry lint for joy. Full Story

It was like when Bob Dylan went electric and made old Pete Seeger so angry that he went at the power cables with an ax. Full Story
RECOMMENDED READING
"MAMA… Root, Hog, or Die" by Barbara Oehlbeck (Florida Classics Library, $24.95)
Mama is like one of those characters who dances off the pages of a book and lodges herself in your heart and mind. Like a leading player in a theatrical production, she is larger than life. In other words, Mama has a star quality. But there's nothing put on about Mama. She's real to the core, as stern and yet as sweet as the Appalachian mountains she came from. Full Story
