BEST ACTOR

Graham Smith

Graham Smith’s performance in Florida Repertory Theatre’s “Best of Enemies” was a tour de force. Based on a real person, he portrayed a character in 1970s Durham, N.C., who is a Grand Cyclops of his local KKK. The actor hit the stage with so much hate and venom that it made you instinctively shrink back in your chair. Over the course of the play, he develops a friendship with a woman in town that he hated: African-American civil rights activist Ann Atwater. Mr. Smith played it all very convincingly.
